Being Paid
Sturgeon County has permanent, seasonal and term employees.
Permanent employees are paid a salary or an hourly wage. Salary employees are placed on an eight step grid according to their skills, knowledge and education. Sturgeon County also adjusts salaries annually based on the Cost of Living Allowance on a periodic basis.
Hourly permanent employees have a five-step wage grid which is adjusted periodically based on the Cost of Living Allowance.
Sturgeon County hires approximately 80 seasonal employees each year. Their hourly wage also adjusted annually based on the Cost of Living Allowance is determined annually based on a market review.
Pay Equity
A job evaluation system ensures Sturgeon County employees receive equitable pay based on responsibility and work complexity. The job evaluation system consists of two inter-related components.
- The Structured Questionnaire is used to collect information about the responsibilities and related demands of a position.
- The Job Evaluation Plan is the quantitative and analytical (point factor) structure that determines the range of salaried positions within the county and the level of complexity. It consists of an introduction, structural outline, and point range scales.
Sturgeon County also periodically conducts a salary review to compare our salaries to other counties and cities and adjusts salaries accordingly.
