Roadside Mowing
Agriculture Services maintain park reserves and road allowances within subdivisions and adjacent to oiled roads. These grassy areas are mowed twice a year. In 2010, Sturgeon County introduced a roadside mowing program and mowed 2,700 km of County roadsides.
The purpose of this program is to achieve a few different goals:
- to assist with weed control;
- to provide a fire break and reduce the amount of fire load material in ditches
- to enhance road maintenance with minimal gravel loss.
- to prevent snow drifting on roads.
