Roadside Brushing
Removal of brush from roadside ditches is vital for the safety of the traveling public. Continuous shade causes soft shoulders and rapidly deteriorating roads, leading to dangerous driving conditions. Removing brush along roadsides improves sightlines for drivers, restores proper drainage in ditches, reduces snow-drifting problems and allows for dissipation of dust clouds created by traffic on gravel roads.
Although some residents prefer to see a heavily treed roadside for the benefit of birds, small animals, dust control and other aesthetic reasons, for safety reasons roadside brush is removed.
