Mayor Don Rigney was first elected to Sturgeon County Council as a Councillor for Division 5 in 2001. He was elected Mayor of Sturgeon County in 2007. Mayor Rigney was born and rasied in the County and shares his life with wife Heather (Larose) and his three children.
When not occupied by the rigourous duties of the Mayor's Office, Mayor Rigney is a farmer. His grandfather also served as a Councillor in the 1920s when the County was the M.D. of Sturgeon #90.
Mayor Rigney serves as ex-officio for all Committees of Council and is the Chair of all Regular Council Meetings, unless absent.
